A Hard Day’s Night Meets Inception in Duff McKagan Movie

Written by www.gibson.com - Bryan Wawzenek

Former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan is making a film to coincide with the release of his band’s new album. Duff McKagan’s Loaded is releasing The Taking on April 19.

“We’re making a movie for it which is hopefully as funny as we think it’s going to be,” McKagan told The CelebrityCafe.com.

The rocker said that the movie is about the band’s drummer being kidnapped, that it takes place in one day and that it might be a dream.

“We kind of act [in the movie],” he said. “It’s kind of A Hard Day’s Night/Inception… is it a dream?”

McKagan also talked about his hatred for reality television, despite being on the E! series Married to Rock.

“If you notice in Married I love my wife. I do. I love my wife. It's no secret around my house since reality shows came, it’s [expletive] garbage,” he said. “Then my wife [says] ‘They want me to be in a reality show.’ ‘Good for you, honey. Go do that thing.’ ‘But they kind of want you in it, too.’ And I’m kinda like ‘No. Nuh-uh. Why do they want me?’ ‘Well, it’s called Married to Rock and you’re like the rock that I'm married to.’

“So I’m married and when you’re married when you’re right, you’re wrong and when you’re wrong, you’re wrong. So if you notice in that show I’m kind of like only in it… But no, it hasn't changed. I hate reality… I don’t watch any of it.”

Guns N 'Roses: 20 years using an illusion

Written by www.vavel.com - Amanda Briones

1991. Kurt Cobain surprised the world with a Nirvana Nevermind that launches a destructive stardom. Pearl Jam grunge joins Ten. It comes out of the legendary black album Metallica. Guns N 'Roses could not be less: Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II were released by 17 September. And what better month to celebrate the twenty years that this rainy November?

The cover, signed by Kostabi,
was based on the work of Raphael
"The School of Athens"

A double album Use Your Illusion was certainly a risky gamble for Axl and company, especially after the success of his debut Appetite For Destruction. But the fruits of their work did not wait. The Use Your Illusion remained in the first and second place in the international lists of successes over several months. On the day of its publication, were released four million copies, and now have sold over 40 million copies between them.

If fans of Guns N 'Roses expected to meet with a continuation of Appetite For Destruction, must have been stunned by what they found on this double CD. Axl was looking for new sounds that were closer to the melodic, in fact, sits at the piano dress, his manner of dress. Another aspect that impresses: the ballads that every lover of classic rock Guns and Know: Do not Cry and November Rain. Interestingly, Do not Cry was one of the first songs I wrote the group, but not included in Appetite for not fit your style at that time. Both are on Use Your Illusion I, and represent possibly the band's radical change: from the hard rock of the late transition from 80 to early 90's, some softer sounds. However, Slash gets with his solos, the songs gain much strength and, above all, lots of emotion. November Rain is a progression that is gaining power as Slash makes magic with the guitar, until it culminates with the final one, along with the chorus repeating incessantly: "Do Ya Think That You Need Somebody, don 't ya think ... That You Need Someone ".

La banda en los ochenta

In Use Your Illusion I there is a strong influence of Izzy Stradlin, who participated in the composition of songs like Right Next Door To Hell, Perfect Crime, Dust N 'Bones and You Is not The First (the latter two compounds only by the ). The sounds of hard rock, much closer to its roots of Appetite, are clear. However, Axl had in mind other influences closer to Queen or Elton John, hence the presence of Stradlin on the second disc is weakest. What jewelry can not be left to appoint? You Could Be Mine, which was the first single and also the soundtrack for the film Terminator II. It also includes Yesterdays, catchy and nostalgic, Civil War, a song full of criticism of the war, Estranged, another of the legendary tracks from the band. In the double album, Guns N 'Roses makes a nod to two great names in music: Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan, Live And Let Die and Knockin' On Heaven's Door respectively.

Use Your Illusionno was just music, was also full of theatricality, and a trilogy that includes video clips of Do not Cry, November Rain and Estranged. The November Rain won three MTV awards: best special effects, best editing and best cinematography. Fiction passed the screens. Axl chose the model Stephanie Seymour for the filming of Do not Cry after seeing her in a magazine. Shortly after they met in person, began a relationship. Everything went smoothly, until in 1992 a fight broke them and took them to court, with Axl accused of abuse. Why not on Estranged Seymour, but in the previous two. But the making of this song, which had a budget of over four million dollars, has much more history.

To find out which meant the music video for the band Estranged, date back to the time when the drummer, Steven Adler, was expelled from the group for their drug addiction. He was replaced by Matt Sorum of The Cult. Shortly after the release of Use Your Illusion, Izzy Stradlin left the band due to problems with Axl, and was replaced by Gilby Clarke. This was a decisive blow, especially considering how much I had worked the guitarist in the last publication. The world tour that promoted the Use Your Illusion was one of the longest in living memory (it lasted from January 1991 to July 1993), but also very controversial. Since cancellations and delays to a failed coup of Hugo Chavez made this a very controversial tour. After the tour, the tension between the remaining original members (Axl, Slash and Duff McKagan) was more than evident. This is where the video for Estranged, which was shot in 1993. Axl comes out at all times in several different locations to the rest of the band due to the poor relationship he had with others. One aspect that can be seen even in details like this. Eventually, Slash left Guns N 'Roses in 1996 and McKagan did the same a year later, leaving as the only original member Axl.

Today, is there Guns N 'Roses? Well, yes. Exist there, only the members are different: guitarists are Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Richard Fortus and DJ Ashba. Bassist Tommy Stinson is Frank Ferrer on drums and Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman on keyboards. Will we hear Appetite For Destruction? Probably not. The good thing is usually always ephemeral. But "nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain."

Vancouver Punk Documentary 'Bloodied But Unbowed' Coming to DVD

Written by exclaim.ca - Alex Hudson

Vancouver Punk Documentary 'Bloodied But Unbowed' Coming to DVD
Last year, filmmaker Susanne Tabata launched her documentary Bloodied But Unbowed, which examined Vancouver's fertile punk scene between 1977 and 1982. If you still haven't had a chance to catch a screening, you will soon be able to take the film home, since it will be coming to DVD on December 1.

According to the film's website, the doc tells a "brutally honest story from the streets and stages of the West Coast through interviews, music, photos, and archival performances."

The documentary is narrated by Billy Hopeless (formerly of the Black Halos, now of the Bonitos) and includes appearances from many of the Vancouver punk scene's founding members like D.O.A.'s Joey "Shithead" Keithley and Randy Rampage, as well as Young Canadians' Art Bergmann. As you can see from the trailer below, there are also talking heads from Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Henry Rollins.

The DVD will be available in two versions: a single-disc edition that includes some bonus musical performances and deluxe three-disc set. The latter comes with bonus music footage, extended interviews, extra films (Tunnel Canary by Eric Lohrenz, Useless by Glen Sanford, Commercials for Free by Peter Lipskis), and more.

The deluxe edition costs a relatively modest $29.99, while the regular version is only $9.99. If you order a copy, it will ship by the beginning of December.

Bloody But Unbowed premiered at last year's DOXA film festival and was named after D.O.A.'s 1984 compilation.

The film's homepage also offers free webisodes and a 48-song music player.

McKagan: Rock, raids and global sports in Rio

Written by spn.go.com - Duff McKagan

Duff McKagan, Rio

Duff McKagan believes Rio de Janeiro is following an Olympic security pattern he noticed in L.A.

I write this week's column from somewhere 30-something-odd thousand feet above the Atlantic Ocean, flying en route from Cordoba, Argentina, to Berlin. My band, Loaded, has been on a most grueling 16-cities-in-20-days onslaught that has taken us from the United Kingdom and Ireland all the way down to Chile, Brazil and Argentina.

This last leg of the tour in Germany is something I have been looking forward to for some time now: that is, playing six shows over there with the almighty Motorhead. Every show is sold out … and that is something a "lifer" musician like me still looks forward to immensely. These kinds of things -- playing with Motorhead -- are what this is all about, ladies and gentlemen.

OK. Now that I have checked in with you all, I would like to illuminate you all to a story I ran across last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil … and it does relate in a large way to sports.

Whether you are the pure U.S.-centric sports fan like myself or hold a more worldly view in your involvement as a fan, I think we can all agree that when the World Cup comes up every four years, we all pay much more attention to soccer. If your interest isn't piqued much by the sport, then surely some simple national pride or curiosity regarding the inane and/or bizarre news and events that take place at such a large event will grab your attention -- for instance, just how did one country add so many prostitutes when the 2006 World Cup was in Germany?

The next World Cup (2014) will take place in Brazil, and the larger cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have the bigger stadiums and, hence, more of the world's stage coming up.

#Note Guns N' Roses Keyboardist Dishes On Band's 'Amazing' New Material

Written by www.rttnews.com- RTTStaffWriter

Dizzy Reed has revealed that Guns N' Roses are working on "pretty amazing" new material.

DizzyReed-111811.jpgThe band's longtime bassist explained that, while he isn't sure when the band will be releasing a new studio album, they have great material left over from older studio sessions, telling Billboard:

"All of it [the material] is great, so any selection of another 12, 15 songs would be awesome. I'm not just giving you an easy answer; I truly believe all of it's pretty amazing."

He noted: "There's a lot we've recorded, a lot of material back when we started working on Chinese Democracy, so there's quite a bit of unreleased stuff that would be really cool to finish and put out."

Guns N' Roses are currently on tour. Frontman Axl Rose revealed earlier this week that he would not rule out reuniting with former bandmates Slash, Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin if the band is inducted into the Rock N'Roll Hall Of Fame.

#Note Duff McKagan arrives with loaded guns

Written by www.diaadia.com.ar - drafting by DuffMcKaganWorld

Former Guns N Roses bassist now plays with his band, Loaded. Present the album "The Taking", published this year.

Beyond its former bassist sheet Guns N 'Roses, Duff McKagan debuts today in Cordoba with a view to adding value in new music searches, from the hand of a band of their own (Loaded) and a new disk (The Taking ).

The concert will be from 21 at The Roxy (Rafael Nunez 3900) and in it, Duff (who is responsible for singing and playing guitar) will present The Taking and several Guns classics accompanied by the guitarist Mike Squires, bassist Jeff Rouse and drummer Isaac Carpenter. Tickets for the show can be achieved at 198 pesos in Eden (Bishop and Dean Funes Trejo) and Follies (July 9 451).

Extreme resistance. The young punk who left Seattle for Los Angeles and then joined the fledgling Guns N 'Roses went through thousands of metamorphosis, many of them painful, reaching a present that shows active and creative.

Addictions carried to extremes, flirting with death, a "rescue" timely and even extra-musical concerns (economic analysis studied in college and owns shares in Starbucks megacafetería) marked McKagan race who, in addition to Guns N 'Roses Velvet Revolver was able to go through and Neurotic Outsiders, and for a time soloist.

Duff McKagan: it was not so easy

Written by www.rollingstone.com.a - rollingstone

Former GNR returns to the country to play with Loaded, before, about his book, his past addictions and what the future holds for Velvet Revolver and Guns original

The guy who speaks from the other side of the phone used to take almost two liters of vodka a day and when she had to go out and play, was given a pass from market to raise some. If the thread and was going way up, took another bit of vodka, and so on. Imagine touring complete with that recipe. When the skin of his hands cracked from dehydration and his body swelled up like a balloon, let the vodka and started with the wine. Ten bottles a day, he says. But the tour ended, and meant to go home not knowing what to do with free time, and take and hope seemed to be the solution. When in 1994 Duff McKagan was awakened at his home in Seattle with an unbearable pain, she asked her doctor to kill him. Years and years of scabies had inflamed her pancreas until it literally exploded. Morphine detox and a warning: "If you take another drink, you die."

The biographies of rock musicians are full of such anecdotes, but It's So Easy (and other lies)-the story of Duff in his years of madness gunner and post-Guns-is so stark, vivid and set sail as a film fiction worthy of being filmed by Brian De Palma after Scarface. But no, the guy did not die and was saved with a recipe that included mountain biking, martial arts, wife and daughters. Also with a degree in Economics and Business at the University of Seattle, he learned several things. First, to manage their earnings, and second, to invest in companies such as Starbucks and Microsoft, and third, to write his columns on ESPN, Playboy and Seattle Weekly, among others. And while realizing cost him to return to the rock did not have to re-involve addiction, he did. First with his solo album (in parallel with the latest Guns), then with Neurotic Outsiders and Velvet Revolver and now with Loaded, the band with which he returns to Argentina and play this Saturday at the College Theatre, opening for Coverheads + Phil Lewis of LA Guns.

Argentina is a country gunner, how it feels to come back? We've lost count of how many times you came ...
I think that I am on the fourth or fifth time in Buenos Aires, and is easy to see how the city grew and became a "mecca" of rock n 'roll. The first time I went out there were not many bands that visit, and now seem to go together. You can say they are few specialists in rock!

The Taking, the latest album Loaded, punkrocker sounds pretty heavy. Is that back to the sources was intentional or just gave you?
The truth is I never tried to go in one direction or another, and I started thinking about making songs a certain way. The songs emerge and grow, or not. I was always influenced by punk, but more than anything by the music emanating fresh, spontaneous hand. So this new album is heavily influenced by the tours and what one sees and lives there.

In your book you talk about how difficult it was the transition from playing clubs to large stadiums. How do you feel now playing in places guys?
Mmmm. Loaded played in something like 300 shows, and do not do that to touch only on what we find most comfortable. For example, the last time we were in Argentina for Pepsi was a show under the sun, but the good thing was that there were many people. Of course it's good to touch in places kids, but most important is to connect with audiences no matter how big the place.

How long does it take you to write your book and how did the idea?
It took something like 14 months, which seems to be enough time, only during those months I also wrote two weekly columns, I recorded an album, I was on tour and I became a father and husband. The truth is that writing became something very pleasant for me, and ended up being something much longer and more detailed than a simple column. I started to look a little here and a little there about what he had to say, and I began to write short stories, mostly about how I ended up in hospital and the time I spent there in 1994. I wondered how I had become an addict, how it was possible that happen, and what else had been on had some kind of responsibility. And all that ended up being a pretty big book.

In the story he told in the book, you can say you're a true survivor of a rather extreme lifestyle. How do you handle your past now that you're the father of two teens that sometimes imagine, you have to set limits?
My daughters know my history and my problems. I am very honest with them, or they forreo not lie. My past is my past, and do not think they are aware of how close I was to die several years before they were born, and I think those stories about alcohol and drugs are more attractive to others, but not for them, because I am your father, you know? I have an eye on them all the time, and if all that is boring or embarrassing to them, it's all good. I will not have conversations with them from the side of "I did this because you do not have to do." I do not want to tell you what to do and what not to do, but I say this: I know everything about every drug and alcohol and tricks between them, so if you have doubts, here I am, as a parent or friend.

It is very common to hear you say that rock musicians are clean and sober, but after one in their entire term autobiographies that have relapsed again, even if one's looking pretty good. Is it really possible for you to be completely clean? Why is it so difficult and many can not do it ever?
Ugh, I could write another whole book on that. I think there are many influencing factors, and musicians are a little special for this topic. It is good to know that you're fucked, you know? And the decision to leave this really is one and no more than one. In the real world you can have a friend or an attorney to advise you, but in the rock world that often does not exist and one has to choose for yourself. Over the years I met a lot of musicians who were very smart, but I think sometimes with all that intelligence is not enough, and ends up earning what you feel. And that feeling becomes a drink or whatever. I remember every morning what happened to me was a rather extreme way to learn. Sucks to do so, but I learned.

Many bands are back together and formed many supergroups. Why a band Neurotic Outsiders was a single album?
I see Steve Jones all the time, we usually go around, I want it to death, and sometimes he tells me "Should not we put something together and go play again?". I love that band, but now I'm with Loaded.

Both Slash as you seem to be very busy with their current projects. ¿Velvet Revolver is a band yet? Is there anything new about the new singer?
The truth is that there is nothing new, and look forward to being a band, but we need a singer. I guess at some point we get together and see what we do, but sorry I can not say when.

Guns N 'Roses is nominated to be introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Both Izzy Stradlin like you were a guest in some of the current GNR concert. Did you think about what could happen next year? Do you see possible meeting?
I think you and I are thinking the same, but the truth is that I have no idea what will happen. I really want us to do something good for us and the fans. My relationship with Axl is good, and really appreciate the feeling of the fans, wanted to please them and pass something that falls short of our history, who can attest to our past. I hope so.

Axl admits meeting the old Guns

In his first television interview granted in the last 10 years, Rose admits that the original lineup of Guns N 'Roses may join again at the next induction ceremony for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on 14 April 2012.

Despite the various controversies previous history vocalist (and only one of the founders, who still belongs to Guns) welcomes a reunion with old colleagues: namely Slash, Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin.

Axl Rose also showed recognition with the current formation of Guns N 'Roses for having managed to complete the album "Chinese Democracy", whose sessions took more than 10 years.

However, the legendary bassist of Kiss, Gene Simmons showed his bad language to blame because Axl Rose of Guns N 'Roses were the best band in the world, something that in his opinion, was the extent of the band "Appetite for Destruction. "According to the evaluation of Simmons, was the consumption of drugs and alcohol by Axl that kept the band even more relevant and therefore argued that Axl Rose should have taken a beating to disciplinary time.

McKagan: Surprising Seattle boost in S. America‎

Written by espn.go.com - Duff McKagan

The Saints give Phil Anselmo, left, a lift while Duff McKagan expects bad news on the Seahawks.

I write to you this fine Sunday from a plane that is en route from Santiago, Chile, to Sao Paulo, Brazil. I'm down here with Loaded playing a few big rock festivals -- as, of course, spring is giving way to summer in the southern hemisphere.

On this very plane, we have pretty much all of the bands that played last night: Megadeth, Alice In Chains, Faith No More and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The band Down also played, but inexplicably they are all on a different flight that has a layover in Buenos Aires.

Maybe it is because lead singer Phil Anselmo knows there is a sports bar at the Buenos Aires airport that will have on his beloved New Orleans Saints? Anselmo would indeed go that far out of his way to find a place to catch that game (he grumbled something about an NFC South rivalry with the Atlanta Falcons).

I don't care, and I personally can't find myself getting excited about the NFL. My woeful, dang Seattle Seahawks haven't given me much to go on here; and that is saying a lot. I've stuck with them every year since that franchise began, and now only feel myself being jealous when our drummer sneaks off to some Irish pub in Santiago, all excited to see his Oakland Raiders play the San Diego Chargers.

I didn't even know who the Hawks were playing this week. Yes, yes … I could look it up on the Internet, but the one extra "click" that I'd have to make just seems like a bad idea. What, do I really want to see who is gonna shut down our running-game-only team this week? Simple answer is … no.

DOWN JOINED BY DUFF MCKAGAN AT BRAZIL SHOW

Written by oudwire.com - Joe Robinson

Velvet Revolver / ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan got down with Down in concert, sitting in with the band Monday for the song ‘Bury Me in Smoke’ at a show in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Duff McKagan’s Loaded were also on the bill, making the all-star onstage collaboration an easy one to pull off.

Down — the heavy metal supergroup featuring former Pantera singer Phil Anselmo, ex-Corrosion of Conformity guitarist Pepper Keenan, Eyehategod drummer Jimmy Bower, Crowbar guitarist Kirk Windstein and bassist Pat Bruders (who took over fro Rex Brown earlier this year) — are currently on a South American trek that is scheduled through a gig on Saturday in Mexico City.

Also during that gig, Anselmo got a little carried away and ended up smashing the microphone into his forehead repeatedly until a little blood seems to appear.  How metal is that!?

Video of both McKagan collaborating with Down and Anselmo attacking his forehead can be seen below:

Watch Phil Anselmo Bash His Head With a Microphone

Full steam ahead!

Written by www.elacople.com - El Acople

The festival "Machinery" in Santiago de Chile, it seemed the dream of every rocker. Coupling was there exclusively and tells you what happened.

If the mountain will not come to you, go to the mountain. Megadeth, Faith No More, Alice in Chains, Chris Cornell, Primus, Stone Temple Pilots, Sonic Youth, Down. No, not the grid of some 90's Lollapalooza. Perhaps the dream of many Argentine rock was so near yet so far. Chile has a very strong rock tradition, is a country rocker, rocker is public. It's music that always ruled.

With so much supply, the activity starts early, as it is added to all the bands that have between one and one and a half of time to put into tastes and pleasure. The first day, Duff McKagan full sun warmed up with people and jumping at the sound of his former band songs like "It's So Easy". Undoubtedly, Duff always had that punk spirit that has not stopped: the Misfits tribute to with "Attittude" makes it clear.

The heterogeneity and overlapping schedules is otherwise characteristic of the event. Sometimes you have to decide between Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the reincarnation of Morphine. The 4 pm and 30 degrees are not the best scenario for the rock garagero of leather jackets for BRMC. A more force September 1 song leaning on his last plate, "Beat the devil's tattoo", fail to capture the attention of the curious.

Morphine is another band that was not designed for the light of day. Honestly, a version without Mark Sandman, the most important member (remember that he died on stage giving a show in Italy), had raised eyebrows. Today with Jeremy Lyons as a replacement for Sandman achieve a fitting tribute to timeless classics force. People respond to small moshs. We'll see if in the future are to live up to his legend and managed to take off like a new band.

Much time had passed since Phil Anselmo stepped America. What better opportunity to do it with the first visit Down, perhaps the most successful musical project of his career, after Pantera, of course. Armed with their dirty sludge southern United States and a couple of beers over, Anselmo had the audience in his hand from the beginning. The singer, totally inspired, leaving his vocal cords on stage, haranguing the people and hitting his head with the microphone and the floor until they bleed, literally. An extensive in September focused on "Nola", his most successful album with Anselmo giving people what he wanted, he decides to give them even a little part of "Walk".

No time to assimilate what has been experienced, the initial screaming "Them Bones" are beginning to listen. Eternal unfinished business, Alice in chains is in the house. I think only New Order and AC / DC were able to survive with dignity on the death of their singer in history. The new boy, William Duval, meets and falls short, but the lead is directed by Jerry Cantrell. He owns everything: the vibe, the riffs, the harmonies. You close your eyes and not hard to imagine in 93 at some redoubt of Seattle. But if they start the show with the initial course of the album "Dirt." Are hymns and jewels like "We Die Young" and "Down in a hole." The members of this band clearly have had difficult lives. No doubt the time of night is given with "Rooster" with Duff McKagan guest in a memorable version. Local producers take into account this band could do well.

Chris Cornell went to cut a little electricity with its acoustic format, and in their shows at the Grand Rex. In limited release, gave effective September but lost the intimacy with which it was intended, in addition to the feeling that the music never quite warmed the throat. The truth is that the moment of greatest euphoria was when Soundgarden confirmed the visit to Chile in 2012. Would not be the turtle escape anyone in Buenos Aires.

Faith no More in Chile plays at home, there to tell him. They are mega stars, to the grandmothers know who Mike Patton. Both want the country who had prepared a special show: the album "King For a Day" complete and in order, with the addition of Trey Spruance, the original guitarist of the plate. The decision could not have been more successful. The disc that best encapsulates the spirit of FNM is their White Album. An extension of styles that influenced hundreds of young musicians, with Incubus at the helm. The key moments are songs like "Get Out" or "Take this bottle", which used to be in the band's regular sets. Also, "Star AD" with an orchestra of winds and "Just a Man" with a choir of about 20 people and spit Patton receiving people. Strange tradition between the singer and the Chilean public. FNM Here's a show is never one more.

And as FNM has banks in Argentina, but plays at home in Chile, the opposite is the case of Megadeth. There is a level of hysteria especially with the Colorado Symphony, but it never reaches the level of local madness. They have stolen up to the little song popularized by the Argentine public. A Chilean singing "Hold Megadeth" is rare. The show is similar to those provided in the stadium Malvinas even shorter, but sounding like the band should sound. And if we put in the balance, it is worth sacrificing one or two subjects for perfect sound.

Day 2

The second day had more variety and more opportunity to enjoy the shows.

With an audience rather strange for them, Sonic Youth came out with their dose of noise rock to annoy everyone. More oil than in the show in Buenos Aires and attacking his guitar Thurtoon Moore as ever, the show ended with an extended "Teenage Riot" with the band coupling to the maximum and Moore and Renaldo using instruments such as swords, creating an infernal noise.

Primus's second visit to the country in a year says the great moment is going on the band. With a great new album under his arm saw an inspired Les Claypool with Jay Lane, increasingly coupled to the band. There were moments of hanging and experimentation, but the bulk of the set was a kick in the teeth, with songs made for people to fly everywhere. The level of dust in "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver," "John The Fisherman" and "Tommy The Cat" made you think of a storm. And no sooner finished Primus, one might think, when will I be able to see again?

Without that luck and being in charge of closing the festival, Stone Temple Pilots did not have his best night. With nothing new to offer after having played less than a year ago, the set was reduced to one hour. They started strong with "Crackerman," "Wicked Garden" and "Vasoline" and became diluted, with Weiland losing the flow of voice and no communication with the public. It seemed more a show of commitment. It was the perfect finale for a festival that deserved it. Would have better luck at Luna Park.

The "machinery" in Chile. The "SWU" in Brazil. And next year estánconfirmadas and Lollapalooza versions in both countries. Is Argentina? Well, thank you. Too bad, but definitely rock on we were very, very backward.

Herman Cain Sucks. Here's the Real 9-9-9: 9 Nights, 9 Shows, 9 Chances to Melt Faces in the UK

Written by blogs.seattleweekly.com - Duff McKagan
Since last week's rather spasmodic entry that entailed me trying to be funny and cute with the written word whilst bouncing around the Irish Sea locked in a tour bus with no power, my band Loaded just concluded the first part of this month-long odyssey. We played nine nights in a row in a brutal tour of Britain and Ireland.
Not in my boundless-energy punk-rock band days, or in any other band since, have I ever tried doing nine nights back-to-back. AND the only reason a band like ours can even attempt this now is that our buffoonish antics offset the strenuous and often tension-filled profession that is playing in a touring rock band. It is hard fucking work.
Plus, on the tour bus, we have supplanted cocaine, late nights, binge drinking, and shacking up with some strange man . . . er . . . woman, with the more intellectual hobbies of reading books (I've got The Invisible Bridge, and the guys are all reading MY book . . . of course!), crossword puzzles, and watching our lead guitarist, Mike Squires, play Scrabble on Facebook.
Sitting here at London's Heathrow airport, about to fly to South America for another run of shows, has given me time to reflect a bit on the mad dash that has comprised my life since Halloween.
Day 1: Fly from LAX to Heathrow, grab my bag and guitars, and drive four hours to York. Do sound check, drink massive amounts of energy drinks, stroll the "Shambles" (the medieval part of York), and play a rock show. The gig was at a place called Fibbers, one of those low-ceiling clubs you wish every rock venue was like. Loud, sweaty, and ferocious!
Day 2: Wake up in Glasgow and head over to a bookstore to do my first signing in the UK. Thing is, they had only 30 books, and 350 people showed up. I e-mailed the publisher to convey my disappointment. They are embarrassed. Fortunately, the show in Glasgow was especially fierce.
Day 3: Get on a ferry and go straight to a book-signing in town, do some interviews, and then play Belfast's Spring and Airbrake. We've been here before, and now we even know a few people in town. We get some sleep on the bus in front of the club, and wake up and do a national Irish radio show, live to the whole isle, before driving to Dublin (about the same distance as from Tacoma to Seattle).
Day 4: Do another radio show, do another book signing, and play a rock show where the whole crowd at The Academy seemed to sing every lyric to every song . . . in unison. Magical. Back to the ferry.
Day 5: Wake up in Wrexham, Wales. Go get stuff from a drug store (like toiletries and such). Bassist Jeff Rouse and I notice that there are an inordinate number of young girls pushing baby carriages. We then find out that Wrexham is the teenage-pregnancy capital of the UK. Ah . . . Later I introduce "Sleaze Factory" (a song about fucking . . . er, sex) as a dedication to Wrexham's youth. Afterward, we hop the bus and I get into a fight with Squires.
Day 6: Wake up in Oxford. Make up with Squires and head off to find a gym. The gym I find is the Oxford University Fitness Club, and I find myself seeing Rob Lowe out of the corner of my eyes time and time again. When we play Oxford Academy that night, we find out that it is Bonfire Night, but still con ourselves into believing that all of the town's fireworks are Oxford's way of welcoming Loaded. Back on the bus.
Day 7: Wake up in Leicester, go to book signing. Work out at Leicester University gym, and rock like crazy. My wife showed up in London, so I take a car to London after the show and proceed to have "fancy time" with the Mrs. McKagan.
Day 8: Drive up to Bristol and play the famous Fleece club. It was absolutely packed--this crowd had seen the YouTube of the Dublin show and wanted to outdo their Irish neighbors. It made for a great show. I drive back to London. More "fancy time."
Day 9: London show. I always get nervous for these big-city shows. My back was hurting, so I got myself a massage. The therapist asks me what I do for a living as she is digging into my muscles. She says that she has never felt a body so badly torn up. Whatever. We play London, and it fuckin' KILLS.
Throughout all of this tour, members from our UK "Seattlehead" fan fellowship show up. Most of these people write into this very column . . . and it is always an honor to have some of these people around. They help us get through tours!
Day 10: Go to the Classic Rock Awards and see Jeff Beck and Chrissie Hynde play "Stand by You." Incredible!
Ah, so I hear my flight number being called. Stay tuned for another installment of "Journals of the Jubilant but Often Jet-Lagged Journo."

Guns N' Roses return to Utah

Written by www.deseretnews.com - staff writer

In 1993, I went to the the Delta Center to see Guns N' Roses on their never ending Use Your Illusion tour, and they ROCKED!

Although the band's Appetite for Destruction lineup had by now fallen apart, the band still included Slash and Duff McKagan with Matt Sorum on drums, and of course Axl Rose who was still in fine vocal form at that point in his career.

The crowd that night was a little unsure about what to expect considering Rose walked off the stage during the band's previous Salt Lake City show during the encore at the old Salt Palace in 1991.

But on this night, other than hitting the stage extremely late, Rose was on his best behavior and gave an incredible performance. The band that night was musically tight, they were raw (no backup singers or players) and they created an energy that you'd expect from the hard rock outfit at that time…exciting and unpredictable.

Monday morning, The Arrow 103.5 announced Guns N' Roses would be returning to the Maverik Center on Dec. 13. Except in this case it's more like the Axl Rose band. The band's piece by piece breakup has been long documented as well as Rose's years of disappearing from the public eye. Yes, Dizzy Reed from the Use Your Illusion years is still on keyboards, and Izzy Stradlin has made guest appearances in recent years as well as a brief guest appearance by McKagan. But for the most part it's Axl and a cast of others.

That's why I'm torn over the announcement that the band with the Guns N' Roses name is returning. Part of me is curious to see this new lineup and re-live my college years. And the other part is afraid of damaging a good memory of seeing a solid rock band in their prime.

What do you think? If you were a fan of Guns in Roses from 1987-1993, will you go see them in December?

Duff McKagan Addresses Velvet Revolver Frontman Situation

Written by www.noisecreep.com - Allyson B. Crawford

"I think we may be looking at somebody in December, which is fun to think about (and) I believe in my heart of hearts it'll happen," bassist Duff McKagan said recently when asked about the vacant front man position in Velvet Revolver.

McKagan believes Velvet Revolver will have a new singer by the end of the year. Jimmy Gnecco of Ours was rumored to have the gig, but now that isn't so clear.

Velvet Revolver has been on hiatus since firing original frontman Scott Weiland over three years ago. McKagan has been working with fellow Velvet Revolver band mates Slash and Matt Sorum to fill the void behind the mic. "I think once that whole thing went down with Scott, we thought we'd find a guy right away. Once a few months went by, it was like, 'Oh f---,'" said McKagan in an interview with OC Weekly last month.

The guys in Velvet Revolver will audition singers next month. This after rumored auditions from Royston Langdon (Spacehog), Donovan Leitch (Camp Freddy), Corey Taylor (Slipknot) and Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge).

DUFF MCKAGAN: Footage From Dublin Book Signing

Written by www.roadrunnerrecords.com - roadrunnerrecords

Duff McKagan's (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES, DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED) took part in a last-minute book signing on November 3 at Eason in Dublin, Ireland. Fan-filmed video footage of the event can be seen below.

McKagan's new book, "It's So Easy (And Other Lies)", landed at position No. 17 on the New York Times "Hardcover Nonfiction" best sellers list. The book arrived on October 4 via Touchstone Books (formerly Touchstone Fireside), a division of Simon & Schuster.

The first 80 pages of "It's So Easy (And Other Lies)" can be read at this location.

In this raw, utterly candid memoir, McKagan, the rock legend and founding member of rock supergroups GUNS N’ ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER, shares his story of excess, angst, struggle and triumph. "It's So Easy" details Duff's rise to the pinnacle of fame and fortune, his struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction, his personal crash and burn, his phoenix-like transformation via a unique path to sobriety, and his success as a savvy business investor and loving husband and father.

In a voice that is as honest as it is indelibly his own, Duff — one of rock's smartest and most articulate personalities — takes readers on his harrowing journey through the dark heart of one of the most notorious bands in rock-and-roll history and out the other side.

Duff's VELVET REVOLVER/GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Slash has published his own book, as has ex-GUNS drummer Steven Adler, who released his life story, "My Appetite For Destruction: Sex And Drugs And Guns N' Roses", in July 2010.

Duff McKagan’s Loaded - York Fibbers

Written by letthemusic-dothetalking.tumblr.com - Caris Smith

If any of you have ever been to Fibbers in York you will know what a pretty little venue it is, and also how incredibly tiny it is. So when i heard that Duff McKagan was bring Loaded here, although a little shocked i was very happy to be seeing them in such an intimate venue. Fibbers is the perfect place for a sweaty punk rock gig!

The night kicked off with Bristol band Riot:Noise, who did a great job of bringing the crowd to the stage and getting everyone warmed up. Good old ballsy, heavy rock with a melodic twist, well worth checking out. The same however, cannot be said for second support Dear Superstar. Despite a few fans in the crowd, the Manchester band sadly didn’t cut it for me. Some decent songs but they lacked grip, they all kind of blended into one another…

Finally time for Duff and the guys to take the stage, i had almost forgotten it was Halloween until the band walked on. Each wearing a mask of what was almost like a weird gnome/old mans head, very peculiar, certainly made everyone laugh though and as they tore into The Executioners Song the cheers rippled through the tiny venue. Next up was the anthemic We Win, always great for a sing along, followed by single Dead Skin, which is one of my personal favourites from the bands latest album The Taking, a real treat live.

The rest of the set featured a real mix of stuff, old and new. It was great to hear some early Loaded material like Dark Days and Wrap My Arms, but equally as great to hear the new album live. Tracks like Cocaine and Lords of Abbadon sound fantastic live, not to mention the epic Your Name in which Jeff Rouse really goes at it on the bass, brilliant.

Of course, the biggest crowd pleasers of the night are the Guns n Roses songs that feature in the set. The band lead us through So Fine pretty early on which causes mass sing along and Duff joking about forgetting the words because he is so jetlagged, and the only way for him to remember them is by seeing the crowd singing back at him.

The night ends with an encore of Attitude, a cover of the Misfits track  which Duff famously sang at GnR gigs, and Gunners classic It’s So Easy. Both send the entire room crazy as expected and are the perfect ending to a great night and a brilliant gig.

Loaded deserve a lot more credit than what they actually receive, they are a great rock and roll band who know how to put on a great gig. Highly highly recommend you check them out whilst they are over here, regrets all round if you don’t!

AXL ROSE's Interview With VH1 CLASSIC's 'That Metal Show'; Teaser Audio Clips Available

Written by www.roadrunnerrecords.com - roadrunnerrecords

GUNS N' ROSES singer and sole original member Axl Rose taped an hour-long interview with VH1's "That Metal Show" following the band's show in Miami on October 29, the second of its newly launched U.S. tour. The talk will air on Friday, November 11 as part of VH1 Classic's "National Metal Day" and will also include a live performance of "Live And Let Die" from the Florida concert.

On last night's (Friday, November 4) edition of Eddie Trunk's "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM, Trunk — who co-hosts "That Metal Show" — talked about the interview and played a few teaser clips for listeners (hear audio in YouTube clip below).

After Trunk told Axl that he was impressed with the singer's performance throughout the three-hour set, calling Rose's vocals flawless and "spot on," Rose responded by saying, "I had a good night. It's not an anomaly, but I did have a good night, and I have been taking care of my voice. I do warm-ups before the show, I do warm-downs after the show, I do those religiously."

When asked about his pre-show rituals and preparations, Rose said, "Well, everybody in this band has their own physical regimen they have to go through . . . I do a lot of cardio when I can, or when I can force myself to. But yeah, you've got to get your wind up, and you've got to get your head in the right place and go out and do it."

Trunk also spoke about other vocalists who painted themselves into a corner by singing classic songs in a higher register and then having to perform them live 20 or 30 years later. "I did that with 'You Could Be Mine'," Axl admitted, before adding that "The first time I had to play that live, I was like, 'What did I do? What have I done, I have to sing this live now!'"

Rose was reportedly asked during the session about the band's possible induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the chances of hearing new music, his notorious lateness at concerts, the current GUNS lineup and more.

Rose also announced that LOADED, the band led by former GUNS bassist Duff McKagan, will open some shows on the current road trip.

GUNS N' ROSES reportedly did not hit the stage until midnight in Miami, keeping fans waiting for two hours after openers BUCKCHERRY finished their set. GUNS finished their show at three in the morning and the interview took place at approximately 5:30 a.m.

The reclusive, eccentric Rose has not given a major interview to a radio or TV outlet in five years or more.

MATT SORUM And Girlfriend Featured On HGTV's 'Selling LA' (Video)

Written by www.roadrunnerrecords.com - roadrunnerrecords

VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum and his girlfriend of seven years, DIAMOND BABY lead singer Ace Harper, were featured on the October 27 episode of "Selling LA", HGTV's series which follows three real estate firms as they build up their rosters of millionaire clients, tour spectacular properties and network their way through the competitive world of high-end real estate. Matt is looking for a space that has the right vibe, but is incredibly hard to pin down due to a busy touring and recording schedule, He and Ace look at two properties, with Matt saying "we're getting ready to have a family." In the end, he's too busy to continue looking and ends the search for now. Check out the episode below.

Matt and Ace recently collaborated on DIAMOND BABY, an electro-rock group whose debut single, "The Last Rockstar", arrived in August. The accompanying music video featured guest appearances by "Glee" star Jane Lynch, iconic actress Juliette Lewis, Verne Troyer, and MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister.

Sorum, 50, was born Matthew William Sorum (Norwegian spelling Sørum), on November 19, 1960, in the present-day city of Mission Viejo, California. His parents were of English and Norwegian descent.

Sorum achieved fame with GUNS N' ROSES, where he replaced Steven Adler in the band, who was fired because of drug addiction. While with the Los Angeles-based hard rock group (1990-1997), Sorum recorded the highly successful albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" (both 1991) and "The Spaghetti Incident" (1994). He also supported the group on the "Use Your Illusion" tour and can be heard on GUNS N' ROSES' "Live Era: '87-'93" (1999) and "Greatest Hits" (2004). Starting out as a season musician in Los Angeles in the 1980s, Sorum had his first taste with success as part of THE CULT in 1989. A decade later, after being fired from GUNS N' ROSES, he was reunited with the group and played the drums for their 2001 album "Beyond Good And Evil". Currently, Sorum is the drummer of VELVET REVOLVER, a group he founded in 2002 with former GUNS N' ROSES band members Slash and Duff McKagan. The band has released two albums, "Contraband" (2004) and "Libertad" (2007). On his own, Sorum released a solo debut in 2003 called "Hollywood Zen".

GNR guitarist brings his own style

Written by www.omaha.com - Kevin Coffey

Guns N' Roses came to us bridging the musical gap between glam and grunge, the musical missing link between Motley Crue and Nirvana.

Somewhat metal and somewhat punk, the band actually toured with the Crue and GNR bassist Duff McKagan cut his teeth in Seattle before joining the band.

These days, McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler aren't in the band, leaving Axl Rose as the only original member of the group that produced "Welcome To The Jungle," "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "November Rain."
Assisting Axl these days are a cadre of musicians including Dizzy Reed on keyboards, Tommy Stinson (formerly of The Replacements) on bass, Chris Pitman on keyboards, Richard Fortus (of Love Spit Love) on guitar, Bumblefoot on guitar, Frank Ferrer on drums and DJ Ashba (collaborator of Nikki Sixx and Motley Crue) on guitar.
Only some of them appeared on the band's 2008 album, "Chinese Democracy," which became famous for taking the band nearly a decade to produce.
Now the band is back on tour, hitting the United States for the first time in years.
We called Ashba at his Orlando hotel to talk about his time in Guns N' Roses, the new tour and if the band's making new music.
Q. Have you started your U.S. tour yet?
A. We just actually got here. We've only been here a couple days. Tonight's the first night in the U.S.
Q. How was the South American tour?
A. It was amazing. Rock in Rio was absolutely a blast to play. Everywhere we went was massive and sold-out and tons of fun.
Q. Are you excited? It's the first time Guns N' Roses has played the U.S. in a long time.
A. Yeah, the first time, like, in five years, so it's exciting. It's fun because for one, just being in the U.S. is awesome because so many things: you get to have friends and family coming out to see you play and hang out with people.
Q. I heard you're doing all the hits.
A. Yeah, we're doing about a two-and-a-half-to-three-and-a-half-hour show usually. We're playing all the way from "Appetite" to "Chinese." It's a lot of fun out there. It keeps me in shape, I guess, so that's good.
Q. How long have you been in Guns N' Roses and how did you join the band?
A. I've been in the band for going on almost four years now. I got a call. I had just gotten home off tour with Sixx A.M. I got a call from management. We had the same manager for a time. "On the down low, would you be interested in auditioning?" At the time, Guns had been auditioning guitarists for a year on the down low.
Axl caught wind that I was coming down and apparently he said, "If DJ shows up, he has the gig." It was pretty much that simple.
I had no idea from Axl that I was even on his radar. He had been following me for 10 years, I guess. I met him 10 years ago and he kept his eye on me.
Q. Were you nervous to jump into this band? You have some big shoes to fill.
A. I didn't think much about it. The thing with me is I don't get involved in anything unless I feel like I can bring something to the table. Co-producing and co-writing with Motley was fun for me. I grew up on Motley and on Guns.
I looked at it like, "I'm not here to replace anybody. What I can do is to stay true to the vision of where it left off." I just try to do the gig justice and stay as true to what I'd want somebody to play if I was there to see Guns.
Q. On the other side of that, how do you kind of make it your own?
A. You just do. Over the many, many years I've been playing, if people look me up, they'll realize, "This guy's been nominated for Grammys and had platinum records.
And, over the years, you create your own style. You're putting your feel to it and your heart to it. Even though you're playing the same notes, you're not playing them the same way.
I'm looking forward to the future of Guns.
Q. Have you been writing new songs?
A. Yep. I've been writing around the clock and Axl has loads of stuff that he's already recorded. We're going through tons of material. And we're asking ourselves, what songs would make the best Guns N' Roses record?
Q. So, we won't have to wait another 10 years for a new album?
A. (Laughs) No. Everybody asks that. If we wait, we'll all be too old to tour.
Q. What is it like to work with Axl? He's described as eccentric, to put it lightly, but other people say he's a genius.
A. I can only speak from personal experiences, but he's been nothing but amazing. I hear all the opinions and blah blah blah, but the guy treats me like gold. He's been nothing but an amazing friend and loyal and honest. I couldn't ask for anything more when it comes down to that.
I have really great respect when it comes to the music side of things, too. Sitting down and listening to him play piano, he has stuff up his sleeve. My jaw hits the ground. He's playing stuff I'm praying the world gets to hear. He has some really great stuff laying around.
Q. Are you doing anything else with your other projects?
A. Sixx A.M., we just put out another record. We have two songs in the top 20. "Lies of the Beautiful People" No. 1. We have tons of fan support out there. Everybody's calling the stations. We released the album, and Nikki has this photography book, so we put them together. It's a really cool, really fun project to be a part of.
I have my clothing line, Ashba Swag, we're putting out stage clothes. You can check it out at ashbaswag.com.
Q. Even though you're a rocker, you're a Midwest guy. You're from Indiana, right?
A. I was born there and grew up in Fairbury, Ill. Then my dad's side of the family lives in Indiana still and my mom's lives in Illinois. But yeah, I was born in Indiana.
I'm big-time country art. I grew up on the farm. It's always funny to me with Axl saying (in the song "One In A Million) "Just a small town white boy trying to make ends meet." He grew up 30 minutes away from where I did, so I can relate to that.
Q. What do you say to people who say you're not the real Guns N' Roses or call this lineup a "Guns N' Roses cover band?"
A. It is what it is. If people come to the concert with an open mind and accept that this isn't the original lineup, but this lineup is unbelievably kick ass and come out with that, you're going to love it.
If you come expecting to see Slash, well...
Times change people change and bands change. People have a hard time with change, but I love change. It's what keeps the world interesting.
You can't really worry about it. You'll wear yourself out if you try.

DUFF MCKAGAN Says VELVET REVOLVER Will Audition New Singer In December

Written by www.roadrunnerrecords.com - roadrunnerrecords

During a brand new interview with the Too Famous To Get Fully Dressed blog, Duff McKagan's (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES, DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED) was asked about how the search for a new VELVET REVOLVER lead singer is going more than three years since the band parted ways with Scott Weiland. "I think we may be looking at somebody in December, which is fun to think about," he said. "I believe in my heart of hearts it'll happen."

Duff told OC Weekly, last month that he "played in New York [in Setember as part of the Road Recovery benefit concert] and Matt Sorum [VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer] was there. There was a singer there [possibly referring to Jimmy Gnecco of OURS. — Ed.] we might write some songs with."

He continued, "None of us have really tried [to find anyone] in the last few years. We've all been busy with other things.

"I think once that whole thing went down with Scott, we thought we'd find a guy right away. Once a few months went by, it was like, 'Oh fuck.'"

He added, "We didn't give up on the band but you can't force a singer into a situation. It's got to just kind of happen. So playing a few weeks ago with that singer, it seemed really natural. So we'll see. I'll come back to you on that."

Jimmy Gnecco of OURS sang lead vocals on three songs ("Slither" by VELVET REVOLVER, "It's So Easy" by GUNS N' ROSES and "Hey Joe" by JIMI HENDRIX) during the Road Recovery concert with Slash, McKagan, Sorum, Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) and Dave Kushner (VELVET REVOLVER). Fan-filmed video footage of his performance can be seen below.

VELVET REVOLVER has been more or less on hiatus since its split with Weiland, although it was recently revealed that the group recorded an album's worth of material with STONE SOUR and SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor.

In a recent interview with Brazil's "Lokaos Rock Show", VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum said about the band's current status, "After [we parted ways with] Scott Weiland [in 2008]… We had such a great first record, especially. The second album is still a good album, but… It's hard to replace Scott for that particular band, I think.

"When we did VELVET REVOLVER, we wanted to make a modern rock album, and we had to figure out a way to make that work. We didn't wanna be like GUNS N' ROSES. We knew we had that in us anyway, especially the Slash and Duff sound was the initial sound of [GN'R's classic debut album] 'Appetite For Destruction', the way they played together and everything. Part of that chemistry was there, and when we added Scott, it brought it into a more modern rock element. He came more from grunge — the Seattle [sound like] SOUNDGARDEN, PEARL JAM and bands like that. So it took it sort of forward. We became more of a modern rock band and we were on modern rock radio."

The Secret to Getting the Singer Gig With Velvet Revolver (Or Any Band, For That Matter)

Written by blogs.seattleweekly.com - Duff McKagan

At this moment in time, I am absolutely balls to the wall, with touring with Loaded, as well as doing a book tour over here in the UK.

Typical day: Wake up in bus on ferry being tossed violently in Irish Sea. Get out of bunk to find that the bus power is off. That means? No coffee. No internet. No light, and NO going above decks as the door going upstairs are locked during the voyage.
Arrive at dock in Belfast, where car from U.K. publishing company is waiting to take me to HMV store for book signing (still no coffee). LOTS of people there. I get coffee.

Then to sound check, where we run through stuff that needs a running through. Eat. Can't forget to do THAT!

Call home.

Play rock show, and do meet and great type of thingy afterwards. Go to sleep.

Repeat all of this for next 9 straight days.

Day off (well, this "day off," actually turned into a flight to Santiago, Chile from London).

Repeat above steps for following 10 days.

Day off (THIS "day off' is a flight back to Germany from Sau Paulo, Brazil)

Tour with Motorhead in Germany for remainder of November.

My point to all of this is that, well, I get a lot of questions from singers wanting to know how to get the singer gig in my other band, Velvet Revolver, and I wanted all the aspiring frontmen and women to know how glamorous it is out here. Speaking of questions. I think I'll answer this one directly.

Hey, Duff.
How can an unknown (me) orchestrate the "chance of a lifetime" opportunity to tryout for VR?
Cheers,
Lee

Hi, Lee:

We don't actually play "orchestra" music in Velvet Revolver. It is classified in the "rock n' roll" genre. But that is a good idea. Maybe if we played orchestra music and the like, we wouldn't have to find a singer, eh?

Of course, I am just fuckin' with ya. Send an MP3 to Rick Canny at Sanctuary Music Management. Be resourceful, mate: if you can't find his email address, then maybe you should re-consider trying to join our group. We'd never let you hear the end of THAT!
